Sealed Sphercial Roller Bearings

Sealed spherical roller bearings are also known as barrel roller bearings or Tonnenlager.Sealed spherical roller bearings add seals on the basis of spherical roller bearings. They can be single-sealed or double-sealed. TFL company can professionally customize them according to your needs.

Features and Advantages of Sealed Spherical Roller Bearings

Sealed spherical roller bearings are pre-lubricated with special grease and then sealed with high-performance contact seals in order to protect the bearings from environmental contamination and prevent premature bearing damage.Sealed Spherical Roller Bearings has longer working life than normal spherical roller bearings.

Sealed spherical roller bearings do not require additional external seals when installed. The built-in seals can isolate contaminants and extend the life of the grease in the bearing, thereby reducing maintenance costs and ensuring the bearing has a longer working life.

Sealed Spherical Roller Bearing Applications

1. In continuous casting equipment, the cast slab is supported by rollers—spherical roller bearings with a sealed design to support the roll.

2. Sealed spherical roller bearings are an ideal choice for use in elevator plants.

3. A very wide range of industrial sectors, such as general and special machine building, steel and aluminum, pulp and paper production, wind power, shipbuilding, private and public railways and mining.

What Is the Difference Between Sealed and Non-sealed Spherical Roller Bearings?

The main difference between the two types of bearings is that sealed spherical roller bearings have an efficient double seal that prevents lubricant escape and contaminants from entering.

Both bearings have high load capacity characteristics, and the sealed spherical roller bearing has a longer life, while the unsealed one is lighter.

How to Tell if the Spherical Roller Bearing Is Sealed or Not?

Determine based on model suffix: "2RSR" Steel-reinforced lip seal on both sides made from nitrile rubber (NBR), grease filling level 25% to 40%, filled with high-pressure grease; "2VSR" Steel-reinforced lip seal on both sides made from fluoro rubber (FKM), grease filling level 55% to 65%, filled with high-temperature grease.

What Are the Disadvantages of Sealed Spherical Roller Bearings?

Sealed Spherical Roller bearings have some drawbacks. The seals can create additional friction, which can lead to increased heat generation and reduced efficiency. There are certain limitations to the relubrication of sealed spherical roller bearings because the presence of seals may complicate the maintenance or relubrication of the bearing.
